To be dazed and confused is an understatement when you're trying to be organized, helpful, supportive, and excited about an upcoming event.
Going back just a bit to the planning (or rather the suggestion of) of organizing an event or getting ready for the family to travel to an important weekend away is so much more stressful than it should be. What to pack for each day with limited space in the car? How much cash should I take? Don't forget Maggie's bag that she packed when she was home. Dresses, tuxes, makeup, jewelry, shoes….clothes for this, clothes for that. Oh my goodness--STOP. Then worry about the dog. She will NOT be happy by any stretch of the imagination. Get grandmas mail, bring in our mail. Water the plants. Will Emmy need anything? Will she leave the dog for many hours at a time? I think at this point I have to give it up to the powers that be. As Jane would say "have a little faith".
