…......did you see my cake? Saturday, April 30, 2011

Up and at'em!!!         It's the BIG DAY!

First order of business--COFFEE!   Ahhhhh….okay now down to business.

Time to hit the shower and get down to 832 for makeup and hair.  Jenn, Afton, Magz, Nana, Maya, Syd, Ange, Laurie& Milar,  Nonna, and of course Deet primp and fluff until perfection is reached thanks to Courtney, Janna, & Peggy the hair and makeup gurus.  We are a somewhat stunning group.  Not my normal humble self but it was so nice to be pampered like this.

And than it was 12:45 and the call came that the limo bus was here to pick us up.  I then began to get nervous and shake.  We gathered all the things we needed for the day at the Mill, picked them up and after a year of planning, off we went.

From that point on time went into warp speed.  I pull in a deep breath just remember that feeling…again.  The ride did not feel like 20 minutes.  Milar did not fall asleep as we thought she might.  I did not get to finish my blog…WTH!

And there it was…Breathtakingly Beautiful!

Now of course we were greeted by the Quarterman's and their cameras.  They got us exiting the bus like we were celebrities hitting the red carpet.  I have never been particularly fond of Wedding Photographers but these people certain bring something new to the event and not only bring out the best in their subjects but felt like part of the family.  They joked and helped and continued to take pictures for 10 straight hours without missing a beat.  I actually did not mind all the time posing and being moved about.  No one grumbled or complained.  Amazing!  Can't wait to see the fruits of their labors.

Into the Main house we go…to settle in.   Deet heads straight for the dining room and sees the "Cake Lady", Kara, in there working (to what we later found out had been the better part of 1 1/2 hours).  She let out a gasp and burst into tears…of joy (Thankfully for the Cake Lady).  Words can not describe that moment, so see for yourself...

And she said, "Did you see my Cake?"….all night, over and over and over and over and over again.

Upstairs we go to the bridal preparation room.  It was odd but even with 15 of us up there, we were not crowded, or in each others way.  Calm & orderly, enjoying some snacks and champagne.  Nice,  the little ones played in the play room.  Pictures were clicking away and as we began to get dressed, the excitement built.  Then the boys pulled up and headed for the cottage to wait for their call to duty.

Next came those magic words…It's time.  The girls lined up down stairs and went out to the court yard for the walk down the path.
While Nick & Deet waited inside for their cue, he said someone said to Deet, "It's now or never."

She must have said "Now."

As the Pastor spoke, the smiles widened and the tears flowed, more pictures were taken, the party started, we danced and danced, smiled and cried some more tears of joy, then they ate cake.  Coconut Cake and Chocolate Cake and Red Velvet Cake and Kansas City Chiefs Cake.  Oh so Yummy Cake!

...and the rest as they say...is history.

Oh and By The Way---Did you happen to see that Cake?

Until the next episode, TTFN.  Love Jeanmarie
